Join the Cloud Enablement Team at APG Asset Management and help strengthen the digital backbone of one of Europe’s largest pension investors. We are looking for a hands-on Azure Cloud Engineer with solid Azure engineering experience, a pragmatic consulting mindset, and the ambition to grow into a broader advisory role while supporting application teams.
In this role, you combine technical implementation and practical advisory work. You build and improve Azure solutions, collaborate closely with internal teams, and help translate business and application needs into secure, maintainable cloud-native patterns. Depending on your experience,
you may also coach teams and contribute to architectural guidance.
What You’ll Do
- Support application teams in interpreting platform standards, understanding design choices, and implementing Azure-native solutions in a consistent and secure way.
- Contribute to reference architectures and landing zones that accelerate safe cloud adoption, working with peers and senior engineers where needed and using the Microsoft Well Architected Framework as guidance.
- Build, improve, and maintain APG AM-specific Azure Verified Modules (AVM) and reusable patterns that help application teams adopt secure, scalable self-service solutions.
- Contribute to internal enablement through knowledge-sharing sessions, coaching, community events, and hands-on workshops.
- Provide occasional 2nd-line incident support during regular business hours and help improve operational guidance based on recurring issues.
Who You Are
- A hybrid profile: an engineer with consulting qualities. You enjoy building cloud solutions and are comfortable guiding, challenging, and supporting teams in a constructive way.
- You work well in a small team, can operate independently on defined topics, and know when to ask for input or align with peers on broader architectural decisions.
- Around 4+ years of experience in software, infrastructure, or cloud engineering, with at least 2 years focused on Azure.
- Good working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, PowerShell, CLI, or Bash.
- Experience with, or strong interest in, enterprise governance models such as guard-railed subscriptions, policies, and standardized platform patterns.
- Comfortable applying security, compliance, and operational best practices in Azure, with room to deepen your expertise in a regulated environment.
- Programming or scripting experience, preferably in Python, and familiarity with APIs,
automation, or microservices.
Bonus Points
- Exposure to financial services, especially asset or wealth management.
- Community contributions (e.g., GitHub, open source, blogs, speaking engagements).
Certifications (Experience over Certificates)
- Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus, such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Developer Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- We value practical experience, curiosity, and the ability to apply knowledge in real-world enterprise environments more than certificates alone.
