This is what you will do:

On behalf of the Asset Management Responsible Investments team at APG, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, your focus will be on developing data pipelines for newly developed Investment and Research Platforms as well as streamlining data flows for existing platforms.
As an engineer you are responsible for, among other things:
o    Analyzing and translating business needs to systems and processes; and developing and implementing feasible solutions to satisfy these needs.
o    Set up and maintain Azure DevOps repositories to facilitate version control and collaborative development.
o    Maintain a Databricks workspace and manage all its dependencies and connections.
o    Develop and maintain data pipelines that implement business methodologies, putting in place a clear documentation to support the pipelines.
o    Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools.
o    Share and transfer knowledge to the team members.
o    Contribute to development of strategies with the latest technologies.
o    Create, challenge and validate pipeline/application design.
o    Interact with both team as well as end users – front office, IT, Architecture.
o    Support system, integration, end user testing and deployments.

Our team is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the entire delivery of a solution. The CMI-RI team comprised of international team members that collectively have the skills to get the job done every iteration.  We work towards flexible and high-performing agile teams which are composed of members with T-shaped skills.

Your work location will be Amsterdam with occasional visits to our Heerlen offices.

Additionally we ask for:

• At least five years of demonstrated work experience with data modeling and data querying;
• Proficiency in Python and/or other programming language;
• Knowledge of Data Engineering, DevOps and Azure Data Platform;
• Background/bachelor degree in Computer Science / Engineering;
• Knowledge of the PySpark framework and working experience with databricks;
• Familiarity with complex financial datasets and pipelines;
• Highly developed communication skills in English;
• Must be self-motivated, well organized, team player.

Nice to haves:

• Able to set-up and maintain SQL database;
• Have experience in web development;
• Experience with Agile working;
• Able to coach junior developers and contribute constructively to a high performing team;
• Able to challenge team and end users.

Additional info:

• Location: Amsterdam, if neccessary open to travel to Heerlen, but in good consulting
• Contract: Payroll, NO ZZP
• Job scale: 10
• Hours per week: 32-40
